1. What Are Cookies and Local Storage?

Local Storage (localStorage): This is a standard browser database technology that stores data within your browser with no expiration date. Unlike traditional cookies, local storage data does not travel back and forth to servers on every web request, making it incredibly secure and fast for client-side persistence.
2. How We Use Cookies & Local Storage
We use zero tracking cookies on our own server-side infrastructure. Our use of browser memory technologies is strictly limited to:
- Anonymous Session Persistence (localStorage): We store your generated email address, custom mailbox password, and Mail.tm JWT bearer token in your browser's
localStoragedatabase so that you can navigate other subpages and still access your temporary messages when you return. This data is kept strictly inside your own device and is never sent to third-party databases. - UI Preferences (localStorage): Stores your dark mode, light mode, or system theme preference.
3. Disabling and Deleting Cookies
You can choose to disable, decline, or delete cookies and browser local storage databases at any time through your individual browser controls. Please note that clearing your local storage database will immediately delete your active temporary email mailbox credentials, and you will not be able to retrieve messages sent to that address.
